In 32 years, the Roger Maris Celebrity Golf tournament has raised and distributed nearly $2 million for charities, including Hospice of the Red River Valley, the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo, and Shanley High School.

The Roger Maris Celebrity Benefit Golf Tournament is truly “a celebration of friendship.” Roger Maris, the single season home run champion who hit 61 home runs in 1961 with the New York Yankees, started this tournament in 1984 as a fund-raiser for his alma mater, Shanley High School of Fargo, N.D. Maris died in December 1985, but strong support from the Maris family and an active volunteer committee has built the tournament into one of the most prestigious events in the region.
